The Adventures of
Toby Robin O'Keefe
- ALL ABOUT ME -
|
My birth name is Tobia Robin O'Keefe, but I've always been Toby.
Out of every ten thousand kids who get named Toby, only one is a girl. I was named after my Grandmother, Caitlin Tobia O'Toole.
Mom's name is Caitlin, too, so I guess that's why I got Tobia (that's tow-BYE-yah).
It wouldn't be so bad if they would have spelled it Tobi. Every year
at the beginning of school some new girl comes up and says that her dad or brother or uncle or whatever is named Toby, and that
"Toby-with-a-Why"is a boy's
name.
So I use both my first and second name when I sign things, because out of every ten thousand kids who get named Robin, only one
is a boy.
That evens things out.
My birthday is March 10th, and I'm eleven years old. So I'll be twelve
next year when I start seventh grade. I'm kinda tall, almost five
feet (by two inches), and I weigh 85 pounds. I have dark brown hair with
a wave just at the right place so that a short "pageboy"
haircut looks really good. I have green eyes, and a couple of
freckles that Mom says she thinks will go away before high school.
I've had to wear glasses since the fourth grade, but they're not
very strong and I don't need them to read except for the chalkboard in class. I'm supposed to wear them all the time so that I don't forget and leave
them anywhere, and I can see far away better with them which is good when I'm on my bike.
I'm mostly Irish with some Welsh and English mixed in. I don't have any brothers or sisters, but I have a cousin in Ireland who's my age named
Wren and we write back and forth a lot. Her Mother, my Aunt Clare, always
calls me Robin, and calls Wren and me her two little birds. Cute, huh? (
*gag* ).
I go to Sacred Heart Girls School, I'm in the sixth grade and my favorite subjects are reading, writing, art, music and history.
My least favorite subject is arithmetic, especially since they started adding letters (when it has letters they call it math). But
I still get the highest grades in my class except when my best friend Terry
Blair does. We help each other with homework, school reports and science projects.
We both try to beat the other in getting the Top of Class every year. She
won last year. I'm ahead so far this year.
In Bluejay Scouts I became a Full Bluejay six months ago. I have all the badges except for the one I need to get by flying up a Nestling, which I'm working on
right now with a really fun kid named Jodie. Once I help her fly up to Fledgling,
I'll be able to join an Explorers Post. I'm going to join the one that does police detective work. If I can do it this year, I'll be the youngest
in Greendale. That would be so cool!
Three years ago I solved a real crime, and it was in the newspaper with my picture. My Dad is the
owner and the editor of the paper, and that might have had something to
do with it, but I really did figure out a mystery that the police couldn't.
That's when I knew I was going to be a detective, and I've been practicing
ever since. I've solved lots of simple mysteries like finding things other
kids at school have lost. Sometimes I get in bigger adventures, and get into trouble and need help.
